Athena Calderone designed the Retenue rug as an exercise in restraint - keeping the design exquisitely simple and resisting the temptation to always add more. The result is subdued elegance, with a subtle geometric border (love the stepped corners) in tonal rust red. Handwoven by skilled artisans using silk-like fibers, Retenue gains depth and a touch of glamour from its lustrous sheen.
